Zephyrs Held to Four Hits In Shutout Loss to Omaha

The Zephyrs’ hitters got nothing in a 4-0 loss to Omaha.  Fernando Tatis doubled and Chip Ambres walked twice but that was pretty much the extent of the hitting outside of a few singles.

Jake Gautreau Drives In Eight In Zephyrs Blowout Win

There plenty of hitting stars in the Zephyr’s 19-4 win over Iowa but Jake Gautreau was a notch above the rest.  In a career day, he went six for seven with four doubles, a homerun, eight RBIs and five runs.

Mike Pelfrey Pitches Zephyrs to Win Over Salt Lake

Mike Pelfrey improved to 1-1 on the season with a nice start for the Zephyrs in their 2-1 win over Salt Lake.  He gave up three hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five shutout innings. 
Sandy Alomar, Jr. was the hitting star in the win.  He went three for three with a solo homerun.

Mike Pelfrey was shelled in the Zephyr’s 8-3 loss to Omaha.  He gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks with a strikeout in 3 2/3 innings.  The loss drops him to 0-1 on the season since getting sent back down to the minors.

Zephyrs Lose to Omaha In 2-1 Pitcher’s Duel

A pretty good start by Mike Pelfrey went to waste in the Zephyr’s 2-1 loss to Omaha.  He gave up one run on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Mike DeFelice provided the limited amount of offense.  He went yard in the second inning with a solo shot.

Sean Henry’s Homerun Pushes St. Lucie to Win Over Vero Beach

Alan Schwarz at Baseball America posted a very interesting Q&A today with Mets prospects Mike Pelfrey and Philip Humber.  It’s a pretty casual interview to start with but they get to each of the two guys pitches and it also talks about how both guys are fighting for a spot in the rotation right now.
