The Mud Hens took two in their doubleheader with the Bats and in the process, they ended a three game losing streak.  The first game was a pitcher’s duel with the two teams combining for two hits in the Hens 1-0 win.  Chris Shelton doubled and scored the only run on Jack Hannahan’s ground out.

Virgil Vasquez had his third straight solid start as the Mud Hens topped Rochester 6-2.  He gave up two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.  In his last three starts, he’s given up just two earned runs in 18 1/3 innings and he’s struck out 25.

This is just one of those things. Timo Perez had an eighteen game hitting streak and he was called on to pinch hit in an extra inning loss to Charlotte.   With just the one chance, he didn’t come through so the streak ends at 18.

Talk about your marathon games.  The Mud Hens beat the Bulls today in sixteen innings by the score of 7-4.  The Mud Hens blew a 3-0 lead and then they gave up another lead when both teams scored in the twelth.  It finally ended in the sixteenth though when the Hens were able to rack [...]

Zach Miner was hit hard in the Mud Hens 5-1 loss to Indianapolis  He gave up five runs on four hits and he had a hard time finding the plate with six walks. 
The lone run of the game came off a solo shot by Mike Hessman.  It was his first of the season.
