Matt Fairel Throws Six Shutout Innings in Lynchburg Win

The Hillcats got some solid pitching in a 5-3 win over Salem.  Matt Fairel led the way and he threw six perfect innings in which he struck out five.  Mace Thurman gave up a run in the ninth but it was still good enough for his third save of the season.

Sarasota Loses Two to Tampa

Juan Rafael Loses GCL Reds Opener Without Giving Up a Hit

Juan Rafael didn’t give up in five innings but he walked two, threw a wild pitch then hit a batter before the go ahead run scored in the fourth inning on another wild pitch.
Miguel Perez drove in the only run for the Reds with a solo homerun.  Jose Gualdron went two for three.
